May has come and gone! We had a wonderful rose show with many great successes! So many members helped that it made it all go much more smoothly and was way more fun! We had many wonderful comments from the judges and the public who attended. And then we finished it off with a fun awards ceremony and thank you to volunteers at our May membership meeting. Thanks to Heather for organizing that presentation!

Deborah Rose invited all of us to tour her beautiful garden over the Memorial Day weekend and it was really a treat to see! Many beautiful roses, as well as many unique perennials and natives, and even an amazing vegetable and fruit garden! Not to mention her many clematis plants growing up with the climbing roses. Breathtaking!

We have a great meeting in June that will focus on fragrant roses – details in the newsletter!

We then have our annual picnic in July on 7/20 from 12-3 PM. This year we will also be celebrating the 70-year anniversary of our club! Plan to come and join us for this fun event. We will be asking for sign-ups for potluck dishes as well as help with set-up and clean-up. We will highlight the wonderful Brennan Rose Garden and will have our picnic outdoors at the CAB – indoor space also available as needed. More details will be sent out!

As a reminder, we will not have membership meetings in July and August but will start back in September.

One more fun event is a rose propagation day at Stuarts’s learning the burrito method – plan to bring cuttings of your favorite roses taken while you are deadheading. June 29 from 12-4 PM with light refreshments – 156 E Creek Drive in Menlo Park.

All of these extra events are fun opportunities to get more involved, meet more rose lovers, and see some amazing gardens. Hope to see you all at the June Meeting and at these fun extra activities.
