April 2025 – President’s Message

By Karen Flores, President

Happy Spring! The weather has been a bit crazy-freezing cold and stormy one day and then HOT the next! Our poor roses are a bit confused for sure! But they are still showing buds and, in some cases, already blooming! Just in time for our first small rose show at our April membership meeting on 4/15/2025. The schedule and list of classes for the small show will be sent out separately and included in this newsletter. Plan to bring any roses you have to practice before our big show on 5/4! Also, we will do another pre-meeting on 4/15 with hands-on help to create arrangements. See all the details on our program information in the newsletter.

Open Gardens! Those who got to see John Erskine’s garden were indeed in for a treat! It was a beautiful day and the tulips were amazing. The rose pruning was also well worth seeing! Stuart Dalton will have an open garden at his amazing rose garden on Sunday April 13 – details in the newsletter. Don’t miss his spectacular roses in bloom!

Thanks to all who have stepped up to help with the 5/4 Rose Show. It is a huge undertaking, but it is fun to be a part of it for sure! We can always use more help with jobs both big and small – contact Stuart as Show Chairman if you would like to help out! PRS provides a nice lunch, and we need an exact count of who will be there for the lunch – please contact Carol Wong if you plan to attend the lunch.

I hope to see everyone on 4/15 for our 2-part meeting being held on TAX Day! Best way to spend Tax Day is hanging out with fellow rose lovers and preparing cut roses for the little show and creating arrangements to show! See you all then. Happy Gardening!
