May 2025 – President’s Message

By Karen Flores, President

April was a blur as I was recovering from my emergency back surgery. I was very thankful that I had gotten most of my roses pruned and fed before this occurred. Thanks to our intern Jayden for helping while I have been unable to do any garden work! I have also appreciated the nice cards and wishes from our wonderful PRS members.

May is shaping up to be a wonderful month! We have our amazing Rose Show with set up next Saturday, May 3, and the show Sunday, May 4. Even though I am still in a neck brace and back brace, I plan to be there on both days to help where I can and to celebrate our show! Anyone can help out no matter your limitations! Our May meeting will be to give out awards and celebrate those who have worked so hard and those who have entered our show. More details in the newsletter. Please try to bring either cut flowers to exhibit at the show and if you plan to bring an arrangement, please email me with the classes you plan to enter. We want to be sure we have space for all the entries.

Thanks again to Carol Wong and Tomoko Lee for the wonderful demonstrations they did at the April meeting! I am sure that has inspired many to enter arrangements in the show. Mainly get out and enjoy your roses. My garden has given me so much joy, especially the roses, while I have been confined to home. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
